'It ain't half hot mum...' CITY chefs could certainly stand the heat in the kitchen when they took part in this year's Milton Keynes Curry Chef Local Final. Four chefs from La Hind and three other local restaurants each had an hour to prepare thier dishes at Milton Keynes College, Bletchley Campus on Wednesday. The chefs showed flair and imagination with their main, side and rice dishes created especially for the competition. Judges had to take into account presentation, texture, taste, aroma and hygiene when making their decision....

CURRY aficionados in Milton Keynes are spoilt for choise. Chefs from La Hind and other local restaurants to the kitchens of Milton Keynes College, Bletchley Campus, for a keenly contested curry cook-off. The resturants were taking part in the final of the Milton Keynes Curry Chef local competition last Wednesday. The cook-off is part of a national competition where each competitor has to produce a main, side and rice dish in one hour of quality cooking. The competition began in curry capital Bradford in 1992 as a way of improving relations between Indian resturants and the local environmental health department. Since 1998 the competition, organised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, has gone nationwide and this year is sponsored by the Food Standards Agency with 84 local authorities taking part.
